passion and people. Our team is a bunch of passionate pancake people who love
to spread the joy of having pancakes to all.
As a token of our appreciation to all
pancake lovers and our loyal customers, as well as fulfilling our commitment
to make a difference to the community, PHOP has been sponsoring parties for
orphanages on a yearly basis since it opened for business in 2005. Most
importantly, we know that the children simply love our pancakes! Nothing
would make us happier than sharing the joy and bringing smiles to all these
children when they are truly enjoying the pancakes at PHOPs.

Trinity Home in PHOP@HSC Strictly Female @ 1 Utama Shopping Centre PHOP @ G363, Ground Floor Rainforest 20 December 2006, 2.30pm Pancake Cooking Workshop
PHOP @ 1 Utama had a pancake cooking demonstration in
conjunction with the shopping centre’s weekly
lifestyle programme, Strictly Female, a free
session for all shoppers to enjoy workshops such as cooking, beauty,
entertainment, etc. Let’s flip it right ! The
audience got to learn to make ‘specialty’ pancakes which are
delicious and healthy, and yet easily prepared at home at any time using
fresh and simple ingredients. It’s also a rare occasion that one would
discover some secret recipes that would transform ordinary home-made pancakes
to “Perfect Paddington Pancakes”! Intan, our outlet service manager, was
the MC for the day, with our outlet head chef, Azmi,
demonstrating pancake flipping for the audience. We have chosen 2 special
pancake varieties – one savoury and one
sweet. Firstly, it was the golden polenta (yellow cornmeal) pancakes with
walnuts served with breakfast sausages, ham and scrambled egg; followed by
oatmeal raisin pancakes served with fresh fruits/bananas. The response to the workshop was overwhelming, with many
questions fielded during the Q&A session. We were very happy that the
audience really liked the pancakes and received very positive comments during
the pancake tasting session, that they took second or even third serving ! We would certainly introduce the two new
varieties into our menu very soon ! Thanks everyone who attended the workshop and took the
interest to know more about pancakes. We certainly hope to see you soon any PHOPs. Also, we would like to extend our appreciation to
the management of 1 Utama Shopping Centre who helped us organized the event,
as well as Intan, Azmi
and all our staff in 1 Utama who helped to flip and serve such perfect
“Paddington Pancakes”! For those who missed the session, not to worry, we have
reproduced the recipe as below. Happy Flipping ! Golden polenta (yellow cornmeal) pancakes with walnuts

Christmas Dinner at PHOP @ 1 Utama Shopping Centre
PHOP @ 1 Utama Shopping Centre has the honour
of hosting this year’s Christmas dinner for the shopping centre’s Festive Lighting Ceremony & Christmas The dinner was well attended by See Hoy Chan Holdings Group chairman Tan Sri Teo Soo Cheng, 1 Utama Shopping Centre director Datuk Teo Chiang Kok, many invited guests, journalists and children. It was a joyous evening, everyone could certainly feel the Christmas spirit with PHOP’s Christmas decorations and all our service staff donning Santa hats. After the official cake-cutting ceremony, the guests were served with main course of either grilled chicken breast with cranberry sauce or boneless lamb cutlet with cinnamon apple sauce, both served on Dutch pannekoek. It was followed by PHOP’s most popular Treasure Box as dessert – mini dollar pancakes piled with fruits, nuts and ice cream. We would like to thank 1 Utama’s management again for the opportunity of hosting such as a memorable annual event, and we look forward to having more of such parties in future ! AGAPE HOME, Rawang
PHOP@HSC hosted an afternoon tea
party for the children from the Agape Home on Saturday, 7 October 2006.
Established in May 2003, Agape Home was set up to offer a love-filled home
for orphans, abused and abandoned children plus those from economically
challenged single parents. The kids have warmed up to our
place quickly, getting acquainted with PHOP’s
staff, sharing jokes and laughter! They were served with our traditional
American pancakes with ham, chipolatas & cheddar, followed by ‘pot
of gold’ – mini dollar pancakes with lots of marshmallows, nuts,
chocolate sauce and ice cream. They were especially delighted during the
dessert session, almost everyone going for more servings of ice cream. It was certainly a pleasure to be
able to bring smiles and joy to these children. Thanks to all our staff who
were involved in organizing the event. A special thanks to Pastor Henry too,
who made all these possible ! Operating hours at PHOP @ The Curve We are extending our closing time for PHOP

PHOP@The Curve sponsored a pre-Christmas party for the children from the Precious Children’s Home of Petaling Jaya. Precious Children's Home is a home for street children, orphans, children with single parents and destitute children whose parents are involved in various vices. There are about 20 children in the Home ranging from three to 16 years old. It was the first pancake adventure for many of the kids. They started with one of our savoury American stacks, followed by mini Treasure Box as dessert. In the end, most of them asked for extra chocolate ice-cream ! Overall, it was a fun-filled session and the kids enjoyed the outing. Although they were like little strangers when they first trooped into the outlet, they started to get warmed up with our place soon after, as we could see them laughing and running around the outlet. It was certainly a pleasure for all of us at PHOP to be able to bring smiles and cheers to these lovely children. We also appreciate the kind gesture of them coming back on Christmas day to perform caroling for all our customers. They have certainly brightened up our outlet with their red Christmas costume !
PHOP will be hosting more charity events or any other fun activities from time to time in the future. Customers are more than welcome to participate or bring your family along to party with these children. If you have any suggestions on charity events that you would like us to help out, just contact us ! Last but not least, thanks to all the staff @ PHOP that worked hard to make this event a successful one ! |
